If the icing has strawberries in it can I pass it off as healthy?!

Today’s five things..

1. Xander’s reading. Xander’s teacher told me this morning that Xander’s reading age had improved a huge amount since January! Well done Xander!

2. Lovely morning.. Having tea, cakes, chats and giggles with two friends! I made some cakes with real strawberry icing to take, they were lovely! (Thanks for recipe Jodi!) Will share link tomorrow!

3. Smear. I was at doctors for an appointment and realised I’d not booked smear test yet so did so while I was there.

4. Feet. Since using Averno my heels have been so smooth!! If you have dry feet you must try it!!

5. Texts. Had some lovely messages from a friend last night πŸ™‚

Make me smile muffins!

Five things for today:

  1. Feedback. I went for a Saturday job at local sewing shop and had an interview yesterday. Unfortunately I didn’t get offered the position but had some good feedback and the lovely lady from the shop sounded genuinely sorry! I’m a bit gutted as would of been perfect but wasn’t meant to be πŸ™‚

  2. Coffee and chats. A friend I used to work with popped over today, she came a few weeks ago when kids were off school but today we could actually hear each other!
  3. Make me smile muffins. I got a text from Jodi this afternoon asking if I was in, I was, and she turned up 15 minutes later with a tub containing six delicious muffins to cheer me up! Love! I’ve eaten two already – well there were two flavours, I had to try one of each!

I didn’t tell many people about going for the sewing shop job but those I did tell have said some lovely things too πŸ™‚ Thank you all xx

  4. Friends. Millie had a friend over to play after school today, they had a lovely time painting pictures, Xander joined in too. Then they sat and ate tea and had ice creams.. happy children!
  5. Early night. Webby is away tonight so am going to try and get some sleep! Violet cutting another tooth I think so didn’t sleep so well last night! Look at her toothy grin!

    Goodnight!

Let the sunshine in!

Five positive things today :

1. Let the sunshine in. Been another glorious sunny day! Even bought myself some new sunnies!

2. Scones. While Violet napped this morning, meaning I couldn’t carry on noisy housework, I baked scones! Had to use some wholemeal flour as ran out of white but they’re ok! Nice with butter and rhubarb & ginger jam!

3. Friends. Had something on today that I was a bit nervous about but felt much more at ease after kind words from a few friends (and a hug from one!), and a phone call from Webby πŸ™‚

4. Skirt! Got to wear the skirt I made today! First time I’d worn it out! Had a couple of compliments too! πŸ™‚

5. Family tea. My folks were looking after the kids while I popped to town this afternoon, my sister in law was there too, I met Webby while I was out and when we got back to Mum’s he went and picked up my brother and we all had dinner together! Great food, lovely company πŸ™‚

Fluff and stuff!

Five things:

  1. Cups of tea. Had school mum friends here for aΒ cuppa this morning as was feeling ok-ish! Lovely to catch up, even if I couldn’t taste my sweet treats! Hate that!

  2. Brownies and fluff. Made delicious (I think) brownies from three ingredients! A successful Pinterest attempt! Whilst in Morrisons getting ingredients I spotted this stuff..

    Fluff! :: keep it simple
Marshmallow fluff!! Great between two rich tea of digestive biscuits with a layer of Nutella too! So bad, but so good!

  3. Easy afternoon. I was shattered this afternoon (it’s like being in the early stages of pregnancy again!!) after having company this morning, so had a very lazy afternoon. After I’d collected Millie and Xander from school I fell asleep on the sofa again!
  4. Proper music. Millie and Xander are engrossed in watching Michael Jackson YouTube videos with Webby! Teaching them about proper music, not of this Bieber rubbish!
  5. New skill. Violet has learnt today, to get to sitting position from crawling! Had her appointment through for her 9-12 month developmental check today, already?!

How to do a poo on holiday!

Positives!

  1. Forgotten cuppa. I totally forgot about the cups of tea I was supposed to be having this morning! Luckily as I said ‘see you later’ to the other friend going, she reminded of the event and I hadn’t double booked so could still go! Cups of tea ensued, as did cupcake scoffing, and chit chatting! When I nipped to the loo this book was on top and made me chuckle!

  2. Project girls room. As I mentioned in Saturday’s postΒ we made a start on clearing the girls room, well today I finished off clearing it out and gave an unwanted set of drawers to my folks! We always forget to take a ‘before’ shot, so here’s one of the empty room – we’d stripped the wallpaper already, the previous owners painted it half orange!IMG_7817
  3. Cakes! Baked some courgette muffins earlier, feeling a bit blue as my skin playing up today. Seem to have fallen off the homemade-f00d-only-wagon so am trying to get back on again! Anyway, baking cheers me up and they’re quite tasty!
  4. New skills. Violet climbed her first step this morning, all by herself eek! Stair gates will be coming out soon!
  5. Books. Xander got his school books out and sat and read them to himself on the sofa earlier, it was lovely to see him wantΒ to get them out! Millie finished the book I got her from the book party I went to and was looking through the catalogue at which one she wanted to get next, she ended up with a list of five and was prepared to pay for them herself! I love that she wanted to spend her pocket money on books! We said to give us some and we’d put the rest in πŸ™‚

When I was trying to get Violet to sleep earlier, she didn’t fall asleep while feeding like she usually does so I gave my phone to play with, she was just lying on our bed chewing it and she went off to sleep!Β DSC_6704

Picnics, Nintendos & Pampering!

My five positive things today..

  1. Made a start. This morning we made a start on clearing the room that will be the girls’ room! The walls have been stripped, holes filled, but now we need to wallpaper and paint. We haven’t got round to doing any since last year for one reason or another so felt good to get going again!

  2. Just sitting. The sun was out today and shining on our back garden this morning so I went and sat out there in the peace and quiet, listening to the birds chirping away! Got my camera out and took a few snaps round the garden, then Millie joined me!

  3. Found! A few weeks ago Millie thought she’d left a watch she’d been given for Christmas at the swimming baths, I asked yesterday if it had been handed in, which it hadn’t. I was going to ask my friend who’d given it to her where she’d bought it so i could replace it. Anyway, today I put on a jacket I hadn’t worn for a few weeks, and it was in the pocket! Millie was so chuffed to have found it πŸ™‚
  4. Picnic! We were invited across to my friend Jodi‘s house today for a picnic and a walk. We very nearly cancelled as my husband wasn’t feeling very well but instead of doing that, I took the kids across by myself! They were so excited and I thought they’d benefit from the fresh air and company and my husband encouraged us to go, so off we went! We had a lovely walk up the big hill at the back of their house and then enjoyed our picnic in the sun, which included delicious courgette and raisin muffins Jodi made, then the kids went off and played den building whilst we stopped with the babies and chatted! All that followed by a cup of tea and more playing back at their house, made for a wonderful afternoon! Looking forward to next time when Webby can come πŸ™‚

  5. The gift of Nintendo! This evening our friends Sarah and Tim popped across to drop off a Nintendo 64 that Tim has very kindly given WebbyΒ  us πŸ˜‰ Sarah’s just set up her own beauty business Core BeautyΒ (if you’re local to Lichfield go check out her page!) and I’m planning of having something done next week at some point!

Today I froze a cucumber!

My five positives for today..

  1. Nice comments. Had a lovely comment on one of my posts this morning and during this week have had a few of the school mums saying they’ve been reading my blog, thank you!
  2. Excitement. Millie had swimming lessons at school for first time today, she’s a confident swimmer as she has lessons outside of school but today was the first time with school. She wasΒ so excited!! She was walking to school repeating “I can’t wait, I can’t wait!” It was so lovely! I’m certain that had she not of had the lessons outside of school, she’d of been quite nervous, Millie is very shy, but as she said, she couldn’t wait! She came out of school and told me they’d all had to swim front crawl so the teachers could see which group to put them in, and she’d been put in the top group! She was so chuffed, as were we πŸ™‚
  3. Good advice. Violet has cut another tooth today, and can see another that looks like it’s about to poor thing. A friend advised me to freeze some chopped cucumber as they’re good for sore gums so today I’ve done just that! Sharing is caring! πŸ™‚

    top tooth!
    top tooth!
  4. Good friends and happy tears. I made a friend cry today, that’s the second time this week! Luckily both times were happy tears! She’d asked me to write a personal profile and I obviously said the right things! They were of course, just the truth πŸ™‚
  5. Belly ache. This may not sound like a positive, but when the belly ache is a result of going to an ‘Abs Blast’ class it means I’ve worked them well! My friend Emma runs the class and I’ve been meaning to go for weeks! Enjoyed it so think I’ll go again!!

Daisy chains and love.

Five positive things for today..

  1. Cups of tea.. this morning at a friends house! Lovely catch ups with two of my friends who have children at same school as my two, instead of taking cakes or biscuits I took a couple of bunches of tulips πŸ™‚ Love a good old chinwag! Must of tired Violet out!Sleepy V
  2. When I got home there was a little card pushed though the door. It’s nice to know someone is thinking of you!IMG_7762
  3. Soup. Used up a load of vegetables I had in the fridge to make a soup! Less waste is always good!
  4. Daisy chain. As I was standing at school waiting for Millie to come out one of Millie’s friends handed me a daisy chain that she told me she and Millie had made for me, so sweet!Daisy chain love.
  5. Daddy’s coming home! Millie and Xander are very excited that Daddy is back home today (as am I!) after a couple of nights away. It’s wonderful to see how they love him so πŸ™‚

Here’s the bit of sewing from yesterday’s post as promised!

A colourful day!

Five positive things from today:

  1. Cheering up a friend.. with a handmade gift. This is my favourite positive from today πŸ™‚
  2. Colourful. Today has looked so colourful! It seems spring has sprung. I noticed a few blossom trees, lots of yellows and pinks popping up from luscious green grass! Wore a yellow top today and got a couple of people comment on how lovely it was to see some bright colour! Spotted this feather flitting around in the breeze this morning, not colourful but had a pretty pattern.feather
  3. Violet. Today and the last couple of days her little character is really starting to show! She can be very serious when inspecting new faces, but with those she’s familiar with she’s all smiles and toothy grins. She laughs at a special few people just because she can and is starting to laugh when you do! She’s getting her cheeky grin perfected pretty quick too! She’s a real pleasure πŸ™‚
  4. Goodnight phone call. My husband has just called to say goodnight, he was away last night and tonight with work, boo hoo, but back tomorrow πŸ™‚ He always calls me though, love to hear his voice on the phone! πŸ™‚
  5. Another project done. Finally got round to sorting Violet’s cot bumper – it didn’t have enough ties on it so it was flapping around and looked a mess, so today I used some of the left over fabric from my skirt, cut up some strips and sewed them on, along with three hearts to make it a bit more interesting as it was just plain off white. Looks much better but Violet is asleep now so will take a couple of photos tomorrow!

Friendships new and old :)

Today’s five things:

  1. A very very lovely morning with Jodi! Felt like it had been a while since out last catch up so really enjoyed this morning’s cup of tea and cake! Violet & Sylvie are starting to really take notice of each other, Violet was loving Sylvie – she kept trying to grab her face! They were talking and grinning at each other, it was so cute to watch! We were thinking back to when we first became friends, almost four years ago, thanks to facebook and cola cake! I hope our girls grow to be as good a friends as we are ❀DSC_6604

  2. Summer hat. First day back at school after Easter break and we didn’t need to equip ourselves for arctic weather before doing school run for a change! Violet even wore her summer hat! Lets hope this is the real start of the warmer weather!IMG_7734
  3. Helping hand. My mother-in-law called me today to ask if I could pick up my nephew from school as his mum was stuck at college. Good deed done πŸ™‚
  4. Reading. I love hearing Millie read! She chooses to get her books out and I think that it’s fab!IMG_7741
  5. Sewing project! Started a sewing project tonight! It’s a gift so won’t share until it’s given πŸ™‚ Not done any embroidery for years and years, I used to do it when I visited my Gran, happy memories.. even managed some french knots!
