So now I’m dairy free, I obviously can’t have milky tea. I was advised to steer clear of other animal milks and soya is out too so I’ve been using oat milk which I don’t fancy in tea!
After reading a few articles about benefits of hot water with lemon juice first thing in the morning, thats what I’ve been drinking when I wake up (with some honey). I can stomach black tea (really weak, literally dunk the tea bag into the hot water and take it out again) and oat milk is ok in coffee (I use agave as a sweetener as I have sugar in my coffee!)
Until now I’ve been a fan or fruit or herbal teas, I’ve tried various shop bought ones and just didn’t like them.. until a friend recommended teapigs! You can actually find them in supermarkets and although they’re expensive, they’re totally worth it! I’ve only tried one flavour so far – peppermint and liquorice but I love it!!
Then in the evening I’ve been getting my chocolate fix via hot chocolate! Again using oat milk, some good quality unsweetened cocoa powder and agave syrup or honey. Perfect!
No school! Millie and Xander’s school was closed today so an extra day at home! Their cousin came to play this morning while his Mum went to college which they loved!
Painting! Managed to get a coat of paint on the ceiling while Violet napped this afternoon! Think it may need another coat unfortunately, hate painting ceilings! But looking forward to it being done!
Clear chest. Took Millie to the doctors today as was concerned about her persistent cough but her chest sounded clear so it will hopefully just clear itself soon! We popped over to the shop for chocolate treats, and also spotted twin tubs of strawberries on offer for £2! Violet has enjoyed a bowl full already!
Fabric. Just ordered some fabric to make curtains for the girls’ room! I found this site – Curtain Factory Outlet – got some lovely patterns!
Xander the knight. When I went to turn off Millie’s light just now, I found Millie fast asleep on top of her scrapbook that she’s using to write stories in, she’s taken to leaving it open for me to read and comment on! This one was about a knight called Xander and a dragon called Millie!
Passed! Am adding an extra one as my husband passed his first assignment! That’s definitely a positive worth having an extra for 😀
Happy customers! On Friday I delivered some booties to a customer and she was so excited about them it was lovely! 🙂 Also the lovely lady that the blanket order was for had her baby boy and she shared a photo of him snoozing under it 🙂
Visits. My cousin popped to see us twice over last few days, on her way up to see her friend and when she came back down a couple days later, always enjoy her visits, as do the kids! My friend and her boys came and had a quick cuppa yesterday too, I love how our kids get on so well!
Decorating. We wall papered what will be the girls’ room today! Its a job that we’ve been intending to do for a while but kept putting off but not today! We’ve bought the paint ready to paint it too, that next on the to-do list over next few days! I hopefully will never have to wall paper again!
Gratefulness. A massive huge big thank you to my Mum and Dad who had Millie, Xander and Violet all day while we decorated, especially to Mum who also kept us fed! Appreciated much!
Had to snap these pretty heart petals that had fallen from the flowers on the table!
Funny faces. Violet is pulling some cracking faces at the moment! Makes everyone laugh, she loves it! She’s learning so much I can’t keep up!
1. Walking. Walked to the shops today instead of being lazy and going in the car! This meant putting Violet in push chair where she was playing ‘peek-a-boo’ with her blanket!
2. Facebook page. Launched a page dedicated to my Three Violet Buttons shop, up to 30 likes today and had two orders for booties! Thank you to those who have liked and shared, much appreciated!
3. Happy customers. The lady whom the blanket I’ve been crocheting is for received her blanket and booties and is really pleased with them so I’m really chuffed! I also asked after some booties I’d made in a bigger size to see how they fit and I was told they’re perfect!
4. Bye bye oven. Getting a new oven tomorrow, can’t wait as our current one is one that we got with the house when we moved in so will be nice to have one from new!
5. Sleep. Violet has slept much better the last couple of nights!, not quite so unsettled as she has been!
Hello! Sorry, again, for the lack of daily blogs, been busy crocheting the blanket order which is all done now so will try get back into blogging! A lovely school Mum told me she missed my blogs today so thats spurred me to start up again!
Here’s my five positives for today!
Sunshine. Had a bit of sunshine this afternoon so Violet and I sat on the grass outside for a bit, she was giggling at me throwing a plastic ball up and down, I was giving her the ball to have a play but she kept giving it back to me so I’d throw it again!
Plants revived! Over the weekend my husband moved some seedlings from the unfinished patch at the back of he garden into one of the borders. They were a bit droopy from being moved and we weren’t sure they’d survive but they are starting to look up!
Waiting for Daddy. Millie was sat outside the front waiting for Webby to come home tonight. She always asks what time Daddy’s coming home, its lovely! I think she was excited to show him her new school bag!
Percy Pigs and Colin Caterpillars. My husband came back home from work with two bags of sweets for me from Marks & Spencer, I love little gifts like that!
Three Violet Buttons. Finally I’ve opened up my shop on Folksy! Have spent a fair bit of time working on a banner for it today, and listing a few items. I’ve got a couple of pars of booties in my head I want to make, need to build up my stock!
Yesterday. Had a lovely day yesterday, a friend asked me along to a little playgroup in the morning, I nearly didn’t make it as Violet fell asleep half an hour before we were due to go and I was going to let her sleep but then at 5 minutes before it started she was up as if she knew! Was a nice little group and Violet seemed to enjoy it! Then the afternoon was cups of tea afternoon with two more friends who’d had birthdays at the end of May so I made a cake to go with our cuppas! It was a practice run for a cake I’ve been asked to do for an engagement party in a few weeks and I was chuffed it turned out ok! Yesterday was also my parents’ 32nd wedding anniversary so we were over there for dinner along with my brother and his family and my cousin Nick and his family. Been a while since I caught up with Nick which is ridiculous as we only live a few doors from each other!
The cake! This is the cake I mentioned! I followed this tutorial.I just used the colours I happened to have in the cupboard but I think they turned out well!
Day trip! This morning we decided to take Millie to use her train pass for the first time. She’s been super excited about having a photo railcard and couldn’t wait to use it! Xander wanted a sleep over at Grandma’s last night so it was just us and the girls. We jumped on a train to Brum, had a look at the next trains leaving there and Milton Keynes seemed a good option. We’d not been there shopping before and there was a Virgin Pendolino heading there. Millie loved it! She’d taken her notebook and a pen and was writing details down on the way, but the notebook was tiny so we treated her to a new one and on the way back she wrote about her journey again, expanding it with shopping details too! She’s growing up so quickly.
BBQ. A couple of our friends popped over and had some good old burgers and sausages this evening. Was a lovely evening of chatting, cake and ice-cream eating and Wii/Xbox playing!
Mess! Yesterday I changed Violet’s nappy then popped upstairs to rinse her nappy, when I came downstairs I was greeted with a Sudocrem covered Violet! She’d managed to get the lid of and had it smeared round her mouth and legs and all over her hand which she’d put down on the rug!! Had to laugh! And be glad she hadn’t made it over to the television!! Then today I was in the kitchen and Webby walked into the living room and shouted me to come over… I’d left Violet’s nappy off to she could get some air on her bottom (she’s a got a bit of nappy rash at the moment) and she’d pooed on the rug and was eating it!! Eek! Don’t think she’d eaten much, not exactly the tastiest stuff is it!! But she had got it over her feet and hands, not to mention squished into the rug! Again, had to chuckle!! Pointless trying to wipe it off so it was into the shower with her!
Sitting. Last night Millie and Xander were playing out the front so I took Violet and sat with her on the grass, just watching them all. Webby was home a bit earlier than usual and it was just a really lovely chilled evening!
Postcard. I got a postcard from my cousin today just saying get well soon (eyelid infection and feeling run down last week) and that she was looking forward to visiting soon. I love handwritten mail, especially unexpected and so thoughtful 🙂
A thank you.. to a lovely school mum who helped me out unlocking my old iPhone so I can pass it on to a friend now I’ve upgraded! 🙂
Playing. Violet has been so smiley and happy today! She’s starting to sit and play a bit longer by herself the last few days, today it was the pegs that she kept going and playing with and then this evening she was sat by the window giggling at Millie and Xander through the window!
Hooking! Started another crochet order this evening! And finished these dinky booties this morning 🙂
Hello!! Seem to have accidentally taken a break from blogging, I do apologise! This last week has been half term break for Millie and Xander and it hasn’t been the best break! Xander was getting over his earache, I had an infected eyelid (not pretty!), Millie has had a cold which came with an itchy rash and Webby and Violet still snuffly too! I blame the lack of flaming sunshine!!
So I definitely to be finding positives!!
Leg ache. I woke this morning with achey legs from running yesterday. I’ve not been for about 3 weeks which is long enough to make them ache from doing half an hour! Need to get back into it for my run end of the month!!
Shop! Think I’ve decided on a shop name now! But need to work on a banner before I can open up! I’ve already had some sales from my facebook page though, the booties seem popular and I’ve had a couple of enquiries about blankets!
Sunshine! It’s been warm the last couple of days and doesn’t it make a difference!! Felt really good now my eyelid infection has cleared up and my skin is ok for now! The children have been playing outside in the garden and planting over the weekend which has been lovely! 🙂
Today. Went with my Mum and Dad to exchange some tops Mum had very kindly bought me that unfortunately didn’t fit! We had a coffee in Marks and Spencer, I had a cheeky scone with jam & clotted cream (probably double the calories I burnt off by running!!) then I popped to Homebase to use a voucher we’ve had since Christmas and get some wall paper and last bits we need to do the girls’ room! Let the decorating commence!
Hanging basket. Before the school break a friend gave me a hanging basket, just because, so lovely 🙂 I’m determined to not kill it and even managed to water it this morning 🙂
Feels like its been ages since I did a five things post, been busy crocheting! But not crocheting this evening as I’m so sleepy I’d probably fall asleep and take my eye out with the hook! So here’s a five things post to catch up a bit! This is my 100th post!!
Sunshine! We’ve actually had some, warm (ish) sunshine! And it’s even Bank Holiday weekend! The rain is sure to show it’s face tomorrow in true traditional fashion but we shall be hitting the Bower nonetheless since the kids want to go and seemed to enjoy it last year! Back to today, it’s been a seeing family kinda day! Lots of playing outside with cousins, cake eating and tea drinking at my in-laws then to my folks for dinner and more playing outside with my brother and his family. We’ve come home with plants for the garden from my brother and Mum! Thanks!
Earache be gone. Xander came out of school with earache on Friday which seemed a bit infected so I took him up to the minor injuries at local hospital last night and the nurse gave him antibiotics. I’m glad to say it seems much better today and isn’t causing him much pain although he’s still a bit deaf!
Talking. Webby and I had a good chat last night about how I should stop worrying about my skin and what other people think about how it looks when its playing up. When its bad I withdraw a lot and try to hide it, especially when it’s on my face, I worry to much about people thinking I look awful! He talked some sense into me and so I’m trying to worry much less about it, as he pointed out, the fact I worry about that probably doesn’t help! He’s a gem ❤
Haka! Webby learnt the Haka whilst on a course couple of weeks ago, and while he was on another course last week he was teaching it to some of the people he was on it with! So today he’s been teaching the kids and they loved it!! Millie has got all the moves but wants to learn the words too, Xander has got the face down to a T!
Crochet. As I’ve mentioned I’ve picked up crocheting again! I decided to make a few bits to have in a ‘for sale‘ folder on my Facebook page! I’ve had orders for three pairs of booties and people enquiring about blankets and the VW print too 🙂 Considering opening an online shop, but need a name… the only one that’s popped into my head so far is ‘Yarn Over, Click’.. ‘yarn over’ being a crochet term and ‘click’ for the click of pressing button on a camera!
Morning! Had a lovely morning – popped to town and had a chat with ladies in The Sewing Shop, and a lady I went to school with in the bead shop, didn’t know she worked there! Then went home and made more cakes – the ones I made the other day seemed to have been demolished (the cake fairies of course, I couldn’t possibly of eaten them all..)
Afternoon tea. Was my turn to have the two friends I see weekly here, hence the cake making! They went down well 😀 Lovely afternoon was had!
Twinkle twinkle. Violet has been opening and closing her hands when I sing twinkle twinkle, so cute! She does her little dancing jig too! Love her!
Millie. She made my Dad and I laugh this afternoon. She found a grey hair on my head which she found highly amusing and went to tell my Dad who joked that it was them that were causing it! Millie said “Well she is 30!”
Was taking photos of Xander and me too 😀
Crochet. Almost finished the bit of crochet I was doing – a baby comforter/snuggle, though ran out of white! Thinking I might try selling!
